Pressing on and straining forward

Hello again from the Nicaragua mission team. Nothing really new down here. The work at the school is progressing. Yesterday, the team working to fix up the school well finished running the piping and were able to get the well operating again. In addition, it was another great day with the VBS kids. We continued to teach the children key biblical stories and to share the gospel with them. The translators have been helpful beyond words. We also continued to clean up the soccer and basketball court where we've been hosting the VBS. We were able to paint giving the court a sense of new life. The medical team continues to serve diligently treating an array of ailments. Today the medical team brought the linens we packed to the infirmary so they'll have clean bedding. Even with all this forward progress the team managed to suffer a few health problems and minor injuries. Several of the team members including myself have been hit with some kind of bowel issue accompanied by mild fever. This morning those who were sick seem to be doing better. A few of us stayed back and are continuing to recover. Today at 2:00 P.M. some of the team, headed by leader Matt Herren, will leave for a neighboring town to prepare for tomorrows surf competition. From talking to locals you'll quickly discover that surfing is a major pastime for those who call Nicaragua home and for those who travel here. Also today both the VBS/school team and the medical team brought PiƱatas for the children to take turns hitting (who doesn't love some candy!). All in all the trip has been a tremendous success so far and if I may speak on behalf of the team we have created some memories that will last a lifetime. Continue to pray for us as we seek to advance God's kingdom in word and deed. Blessings.

  1. So good to hear from you... yes I heard about "the bug". I pray it doesn't spread too far through the group. Sounds like a character building experience for sure! Hang in there everyone... we miss you!
May God be revealing Himself to each of you in a unique, deep, and profound way!
